 Objective:  Explain what the viewer is looking at in the picture, and how buoyancy/isostasy is involved.  Is the object mostly submerged or mostly above the surface of the fluid?  What does the level at which the object floats in the fluid tell us about the relative densities of the object and fluid? THEM FROM ABOVE THEM FROM BELOW In the two photos we see an assortment of objects in a tub of water. 3 of which are rubber ducks of my vast personal collection. In the middle is a plastic butterfly and to the right we see a rock that has been bisected and a paper crane that is slowly absorbing the water making it less stiff. I think these objects represent the idea of   buoyancy/isostasy   well as we have a range of those who float, those who float less and those who don't float at all.  The ducks, and the crane float wonderfully as by the ratio of them submerged vs what isn't submerged leans more on the non submerged side.  OBJECTIVE:  A mineral that is a single element.  You may find this in nature, or it may be more convenient to find it in a display case in the Baker building or in the LS office. For todays blog I will be showing you all one of my favorite minerals!! DRUM ROLLLLL PLEASEEEE 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 ===> HALITE   (or better known as table salt) Here we see to our left is a mineral called Halite and its more common name being table salt. I am sure we all aware of what it is and what its use is but I'll explain it anyways. Halite is the natural crystalline mineral form of Sodium chloride or NaCl. It has a cubic crystal shape and its color could be white or colorless.  Its main use as one of the oldest known food seasonings is to make our food taste better. But some of its other applications could be to help preserve food like dried meats.  Below is a closer up image that I found online.  OBJECTIVE: S how a location that has experienced or is experiencing erosion.  This should be a different location than where you found weathering last week. Streams of water are clear giveaways when locating erosion. I found this stream on one of my walks to school. On April17th funny enough a whole month before this post... I am not 100% sure how long this stream has been flowing but I would say a good few years and it will keep eroding the stone little by little for many more years as I think this stream connects to maybe a flood drain? It was close to a road I pass by going to school in the mornings. I didn't explore it the most but a did see some sort of hole / maybe sewer drain? Point is its always flowing with some sort of water and this means that sediment and even bits of the stone overtime get washed away from where they started. I Can't know how far the sediment of the area has been transported but I can assume it has made it's way quite from from this rocky path...

  WEATHERING  These images are of a stone wall that supports a small tunnel under some train tracks near the Stenner apartments and near the intersection of foothill/California. These pictures were taken  4/10/26 at about 1pm.  1. Given that this wall is located in a tunnel and is supporting the railroad which has been here for I would say 150+ years I think the weathering was mainly done by the past but is still happening due to some moisture from the drainage water that passes through and rain.  2. I think that the type of weathering done here is both bits chemical and physical. (chemical from water/moisture that can get on the walls and flow, and physical form the potential abrasion and general wear that comes from supporting the railroad for so long.)   3. I just think the weathering has occurred through mainly water flow , wind, and general wear. (you could make a point about freezing and thawing on really cold rain night but I wouldn't know) I kn...

 Entry:1 I found this rock a few days ago just forgot to make my post, I believe the date was 4/3/2026 at around 2pm I would say. I was walking home when it caught my eye. The location of this rock was near a lamp post in the Stenner apartments parking lot.    Some things to note about this rock is its color being red with some lighter hues of orange here and there. I saw other rocks in the area that looked sort of like this one but I don't think it necessary formed where I found it. Perhaps in the area but not at the exact location. The reason for this thinking is that this area is commonly traveled by students so maybe someone picked it up and moved it at random, also there is a small creek/waterway underneath the railroad that students cross and I have seem similar looking rocks around there.  Overall its is a neat rock.

  Le Mis Book 2 Chapter 7     In this chapter, it showed us how potentially dangerous and scary jean Valjean can be. His old life and the prison system kind of broke him. He did what he did to survive even if it wants reasonable. He is said to be as strong as 4 men. This man if survival strikes him could be very dangerous.  He already had a hate for everyone and society so anything is possible.
